Well, I got the call yesterday morning that I was officially on stand-by for a liver transplant. There was one person ahead of me on the list that matched also but if something happened and it didn't work out with him/her, I would be next in line. I was not supposed to eat or drink until I heard back from them which was supposed to be a couple of hours. After almost four hours, I found out the other recipient was being transplanted.
Such a wide range of emotions burst forth when you get that call. Fear, excitement, anxiety and everything else mixed in really gets your adrenalin pumping. I guess it was good because it was like a wake-up call that it could come any time. How many of us have your laundry caught up, house clean, refrigerator cleaned out, bills paid and be ready to walk out the door in an hour after getting the call? I certainly wasn't.
I started out showering twice a day, full makeup, hair fixed, legs shaven like I was going on a date at anytime any day. After six months, I have definitely slacked off. Hairy legs?? Who cares? Makeup?? Who cares?
Anyway, I have a renewed sense of urgency to get things caught up and not procrastinate....
Just thought I'd give you all an update.

that the call comes very soon, foo. It ;must have been surreal to have had the first call and the wait, and then the news that the transplant was in progress for the other reccipient. I know that we are saying prayers for thefamilies of the receipeint and the donor, and a special prayer that the transplant is wonderfully sucessfull. Now we are all praying for you and a very quick phonecall.
